Mr. Larry Avon Lucas, age 68, of Lake City, Florida died suddenly on Tuesday, Nov. 18, in the North Florida Regional Hospital, Gainesville, Florida. He was born in Thomasville, Georgia and had resided in Lake City, Florida for over 60 years. He was a former member of the Lake City Fire Department, worked for the Columbia County School Board in the maintenance department for 38 years before retiring in 2008. He also was a certified electrician and owned and operated Lucas Electric for many years. He was a graduate of Lee College, Cleveland, Tenn., a veteran of the Vietnam War, attended the Welcome Congregational Holiness Church of Lake City, Fla. He also enjoyed fresh and salt water fishing, raising cattle and gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam D. and Murdell Bass Lucas. He is survived by his wife, Genevieve Anderson Lucas of Lake City, Fla.: His daughter, Tracy (Tim) Duckett of Lake City, Fla.: His son, Timmy (Lori) Lucas of Lake City, Fla.: Two step-children, Zary (Jeannie) Alford of Glen St. Mary, Florida and Timothy (Maria) Alford of Sanderson, Fla.: Two brothers, Virgil Lucas of Jacksonville, Florida and Charles Lucas of Avon Park, Fla.: Eight grandchildren, Chelzie, Breanna, Tiffany, Lonnie, Jamie, Joseph, Timbra and Zack. Brother-in-law, Wayne Church of Lake City, Fla.: Other family members include, Manual Bass, Sherwood Bass and Davis Bennett. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, Nov. 22, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Lance Crews, Pastor of the Welcome Congregational Holiness Church, officiating and assisted by Rev. Justin Griffis and Rev. Wayne Church. Interment will be in Williams Cemetery, Lake City, Florida. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, Nov. 21, at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W.
