Leroy Meads

Leroy Meads was born on 2/9/1946 in Pavo, Georgia.  He went to be with our Father in Heaven on 10/27/23 and is now whole again. He was preceded in death by his only daughter, Tammy, and survived by the love of his life, his wife of 59 years  Brenda, and his three boys, Joedy, Scott, and Chad. He has 13 grandkids. Joedy, father of Amber, Samantha, Amanda, Kelsey, and Cassidy.  Scott, father of Brandon, Shelby, Madison, Macy, and Joshua. Chad is the father of Skyla, Ava, and Ashlyn. He also has 7 great-grandchildren.

Leroy enjoyed working with his hands. He provided for his family with his business, Elrod’s Mobile Home Service in which he set up mobile homes. He loved gardening and took pride in sharing his harvest with family and friends. One of his favorite places to be was on the water. He spent many years fishing on the Suwannee and Sante Fe Rivers.  He enjoyed fishing almost as much as he enjoyed eating them as soon as they came out of the hot grease. If you knew Leroy, you would know that he was going to get his belly full well before the meal was done.  In his later years, he filled his retired boredom with his own mowing service.

During football season, you could find him sitting in his “man cave” watching his favorite team, the Georgia Bulldogs. If football was not on, you would hear him listening to his old country music, “Willie’s Roadhouse”.  On Sundays, he listened to David Chauncey from West Side Baptist of Gainesville for his Sunday service.

Before his illness and COVID robbed him of his freedom, he loved being with his family in which good country cooking was always a must: the more family, the more food, the more laughter.  Leroy always made sure everyone had plenty of food and a big hug. GO DAWGS!!!

A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Meads will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 1 P.M. in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Rodriguez, Pastor of Southside Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Columbia County, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 12 to 1 P.M. Tuesday (One hour before services) at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W.  Main Blvd., Lake City, Florida
