Mr. Lewis Ray Townsend, Jr. age 76, of Lake City, Florida, passed away on April 7, 2025, in the HCA North Florida Hospital, Gainesville, Florida. He was born in Cross City, Florida and lived in Lake City, Florida most of life. He worked with L.R. Townsend & Sons Timber Company for many years and was co-owner of Triple R Logging Company of Lake City. He was a 1967 Graduate of Columbia High School, a former member of the Florida National Guard and enjoyed his tractor and his farm in Hatch Bend, Florida. He was preceded in death by father, Lewis Ray Townsend, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Yvonne Townsend of Lake City, Florida; his daughter, DeLaina (Darin) Wilson of Douglas, Georgia; two sons, Lewis Ray (Tammy) Townsend, III of Lake City, Florida and Rev. Michael (Carol Ann) Townsend of Live Oak, Florida; one sister, Avis (Earl) Jordan of Lake City, Florida; two brothers, Kenny (Kathie) Townsend of Hatch Bend, Florida and Paul (Teresa) Townsend of Lake City, Florida; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was “Papa Townsend”, a father figure, to many people. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Townsend will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, April 11, in the Live Oak First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Michael Townsend and Rev. Darin Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Live Oak Assembly of God Church Cemetery, Live Oak, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 5 to 8 P. M. Thursday, April 10, at Guerry Funeral Home, 2659 S.W. Main Blvd., Lake City, Florida. GUERRY FUNERALHOME of Lake City, Florida is honored to serve the Townsend family.
