Linda Marie Willey

Mrs. Linda M. Willey, age 59, passed away peacefully on September 30th, 2024 due to complications with early onset of Alzheimer's. Linda was born in Quonset Point, Rhode Island and moved often as a young girl due to her father's Naval career. Marietta, Ga. would become home as she attended most of her grade school, high school and early years of college. While in college, she met the love of her life, Monte Willey, and married him shortly thereafter. Monte was also in the Navy and their family was stationed in various locations from Virginia to Florida to Iceland to Washington State then back to Florida where they retired in Macclenny, Fl. Linda was a hard working military spouse raising her children and caring for their home during the deployment years of her husband. Linda held various careers while getting her BA then MBA in Human Resources. Linda was elected as president of the SHRM Jacksonville chapter and was the secretary for the National SHRM Association, a global HR advocate for corporations. Linda enjoyed baking, quilting, Little House on the Prairie and of course, her Hallmark movies. Linda was a devout Catholic and spent years volunteering at her church's gift shop and teaching religious classes. Linda was a loving spouse, mother, sister and friend to everyone who had the privilege to know her and she will be greatly missed. Linda is preceded in death by her father, USN Capt. (ret.) Ernest Joseph Graessle; her mother, Connie Joanne Graessle; mother-in-law Nelda Mae Follett and brother-in-law; Kevin Lee. She is survived by her husband of 39 years USN Lt. (ret.) Monte Willey and sons; Brandon Willey, Michael Willey and Joshua (Jessy) Willey; her siblings Pam (Frank) Tipton, Lisa Graessle, Janet (Sherman) McCoy, Steve (Christine) Graessle, Michael (Christa) Graessle; 4 grandchildren, 17 nieces and nephews and 10 great nieces and nephews. The funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 7th, 2024 at 10 A.M. in the St. Mary Catholic Church in Macclenny, FL. Visitation and gathering with the family will begin at 9 A.M. An internment ceremony will occur at a later date at the Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL.
