Lloyd A. "Sonny" Register

Mr. Lloyd A. “Sonny” Register, age 83, of Sanderson, Florida passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, at his home in Sanderson, Florida, following an extended illness.  Mr. Register was born in Macclenny, Florida and lived in Sanderson, Florida, all of his life.  He owned and operated Register’s Dairy Farm, Sanderson, Florida for over 35 years. He formerly worked for the Baker County Farm Bureau and was a past president. He was a former past president of the Baker County Cattleman’s Association, Baker County Band Parents and Westside Elementary PTA. He served on the Board of Director’s of Farm Credit of Florida, Farm Service Agency, was an honorary member of the Florida FFA Association and the 1995 Farm Bureau Dairy Farm Family of the year.  Mr. Register graduated as class salutatorian of Baker County High School in 1957 and graduated from the University of Florida in 1961 with a BS degree in Agriculture.  He and his wife, Peggy, loved to travel and attend blue grass shows. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hamp and Lettie Crews Register and brother, “Peewee” Register. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Peggy Prevatt Register of Sanderson, Florida; one daughter, Debbie (Ricky) Crews of Glen St. Mary, Florida; two sons, Douglas (Penny) Register and Darryl (Danette) Register both of Glen St. Mary, Florida; one sister, Glenda Register of Sanderson, Florida; one brother, Terrell Register of Sanderson, Florida; seven grandchildren, Crystal, Garrett, Curtis, Joel, Cason, Alex and Collin; seven great-grandchildren, Luke, Cole, Caroline, Cohen, Carter, Olivia and Adalee; and special caregivers, Summer Harvey and Tanna Blanchard.  A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Register will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday, Aug. 21, in the Macclenny Primitive Baptist Church with Elder David Crawford and Elder Michael Green officiating. Interment will be in South Prong Cemetery, Baker County, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Saturday, Aug 20, at the church. GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, U.S. 90 East, Macclenny, Florida is in charge of arrangements.
