Mrs. Lorayne McCormick Johns Rhoden, 86 of Macclenny passed away on Friday, September 23, 2011 at the St. Vincent’s Hospital in Jacksonville. Mrs. Rhoden was a lifelong resident of Baker County and the last surviving child to the late John D. and Lillie Leigh McCormick. She was an Avon Representative during the 1970’s in Baker County, the Past Worthy Matron of the OES and the Mother Advisor for the Rainbow Girls Hilliard Assembly. Mrs. Rhoden was a devout Christian and member of Faith Baptist Church in Macclenny. She enjoyed listening to minister’s preach and gospel music on cassette tapes and crocheting. Mrs. Rhoden was preceded in death by one son, John Marvin Johns in 2006.
Mrs. Rhoden is survived by two sons, Porter Johns (Barbara), Waycross, GA and J.D. “Butch” Johns (Ann), Glen St. Mary, two daughters, Maime D. Cole (Martin) and Joan Johns both of Macclenny, eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rhoden will be conducted on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Torran Dismuke, pastor officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 2:30 till 3:00 prior to the service on Sunday. Interment will follow on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Oak Grove Cemetery, Baker County, Florida.
