Mr. Mallory “Mallie” Davis, age 79, passed away on October 27th at his farm in Glen St. Mary with family at his side. It is the same farm where he was born on August 16, 1938 to Bill and Gladys Williams Davis; one of 6 boys. In 1962, he started dating Lou Bennett. Two years later, they would wed and celebrated 53 years of marriage. Mr. Davis worked as an iron worker and retired from the Baker County School Board, where he worked in the maintenance department. He was also a talented carpenter and helped build many structures around Baker County. Of all his talents, one of the greatest was farming his land and raising livestock which he did both his entire life. Mallie was a lifelong resident of Baker County. He and his wife both attended and were saved at Raiford Road Church. They would eventually become members of Calvary Baptist Church in Macclenny. He is preceded in death by both his parents; son Buddy Davis; brothers Everett, Ralph, Ora, and Winston Davis; and sister-in-law Martha Davis.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Lou Bennett Davis; Daughters LouAnn (Randy) Crews and Ginger Gail “Chita” (Aaron) Crews, and son Clay Davis. Nine grandchildren survive; Hannah (Rick) Diggs, Matt (Katie) Crews, Kasey Crews, Becki Crews, Brittany Johnson, Patricia (Scott) Brokaw, Clayton Davis, Jinny Davis, and Jamie Davis. He has ten great grandchildren; Kiara, Luke, Lani and Logan Crews; Mallory, Ricky, and Gabby Diggs; Madison Beninati, Lilly Brokaw and Ember Davis. Mallie is also survived by his brother Bud (Clarice) Davis; sister-in-laws Dorothy Davis and Lydia Ann Davis.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 30 from 6:00-8:00pm at Raiford Road Church. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 31 at 11:00am at Raiford Road Church with Rev. Donnie Williams and Rev. David Griffis officiating. Interment to follow at South Prong Cemetery.
