Marvis Jean Miller

February 21, 1934 — December 24, 2015

Marvis Jean Miller, of Lake City FL, left her earthly home to be with her Savior on Christmas Eve night. Marvis (aka Marvie, Merwyn) was born in Oldham South Dakota to Violet and Roy Mathison. She wed the love of her life, James Miller in 1956 and they enjoyed over 50 years of marriage before his passing.  Jim’s career as a Naval Officer and a pharmacist for the VA took Marvis and the family all over the country and even to Cuba.  Marvis was a true soccer mom, as well as numerous other sports, church activities and scouts. She made sure the four boys made it to all the practices and games and always provided that extra word of encouragement. Her house was a gathering spot for all the neighborhood kids who she supplied with drinks and snacks. Marvis was active in the numerous churches she attended across the country. Her last Church home was at Wesley Memorial Methodist where she participated in many capacities.Marvis worked many different jobs including the Columbia County Tax Collectors office where she retired after many years of service. She was predeceased in death by her parents, sisters Barbara and Neva, her husband, Jim, and her son Kelly.  Marvis is survived by her sons, Guy (Carol) Kraig (Gail), and Kerry (Heather), and daughter in law ,Becci.  In addition, she has 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, her brother, Phillip Mathison and many special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 2PM at Guerry Funeral Home in Lake City. Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM.
