Mary Sue Bishop

Mary Sue Bishop, age 89 of Lake City, passed away Friday, January 31, 2025. Born in North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late John and Fannie Southerland Yarbrough. Ms. Bishop was a longtime food service worker with the Baltimore County Public School System in Maryland before moving to Lake City twenty years ago. She thoroughly enjoyed traveling with and being part of the senior group at Hopeful Baptist Church where she was a member. Ms. Bishop loved to eat locally at Shirley’s Restaurant; if Shirley’s was open, Ms. Bishop was there. She also enjoyed going shopping. Ms. Bishop leaves behind her daughters: Linda (Jim) Gallagher of Lake City and Sharon (Bill) Mancuso of Indiana. Five grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband: Jessie Bishop and son: Randall Bishop. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Hopeful Baptist Church with Reverend Mark Cunningham officiating. Interment will follow the service at Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
