Mary Lou Cole, 85, a resident of Macclenny, Florida passed away on October9, 2011 at the Baptist Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born on February 16, 1926 in Macclenny to Quentin T. and Ida Mae Dugger Milton. She graduated in 1944 from Macclenny High School. She married Thomas J. Cole on April 7, 1944 and they made their home in Miami and Key Largo, Florida and then moved back to Macclenny in 1974 to build their retirement home. Mrs. Cole retired from the North East Florida State Hospital and was a member of the Christian Fellowship Temple Church. She is preceded in death by her husband Tom, son Tommy, daughter Shirley Glenda and grandson Malcolm (Boo) Chmielewski and her much loved sister Marion M. Lyons.
Survivors include one sister, Sharon Chiasson, Macclenny, Fl. Two Brothers: Allen and Gary Milton, Macclenny, Florida. Nine grandchildren, Dawn Chmielewski, Sheila Finnegan, Richard, Jay, Timmy, Travis and Charles Cole, Robert Lynn Ryan and Sean Wilson. Eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Her very best friends and “Surrogate Family” Charles and Peggy Hall and children Amanda and Kenny. Many other nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with the Rev. David Thomas, officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Macclenny, Florida. The family will receive friends Thursday October 13, 2011 from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. prior to the service. Guerry Funeral Home, 420 E. Macclenny Avenue, Macclenny, Florida is in charge of arrangements
