Mary Frances Devane

Mrs. Mary Frances DeVane, 86, of Lake City, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City.  She was a daughter to the late Walter H. and Odessa P. Gammel.  Mrs. DeVane moved to Lake City in 1946 shortly after marrying her husband of 66 years, Harvey DuBose DeVane, Sr.  She attended the Vanderbilt University and the Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee.  Mrs. DeVane enjoyed playing tennis, fishing and boating while at her home in Horseshoe Beach and traveling with her husband in their motorhome.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey DuBose DeVane, Sr in 2012 and her only brother, Walter H. Gammel, Jr.

Survivors include her three children, Cindy D. Jaudon, The Villages, FL, Kathy D. (Eddie) Bennett, Lake City and Harvey D. (Sally) DeVane Jr., St. Augustine; her sister in law, Betty Gammel (Cecil) Evans, Honea Path, SC; seven grandchildren, Jeanna (Mike) Shanahan, Jacqueline (Ryan) Russo, Jeb (Heather) Bennett, Troy (Andrea) Bennett, Chastity (Ryan) Thompson, Brittney DeVane and Colby DeVane; and thirteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake City with Mr. James Montgomery officiating.  Interment will follow at Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be from 1-2:00 PM, one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Saturday.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church at P.O. Box 469, Lake City, FL 32056 or to Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center at 6037 West US Hwy 90, Lake City, FL 32055.
