Mary Alice Kirby

Mrs. Mary A. Kirby, 94 of Lake City passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2001 at The Health Center of Lake City. Mrs. Kirby was born in Suwannee County and had lived in Lake City since early childhood. She was the first of nine children to the late Joseph Allen and Geania Boswell Porter. Mrs. Kirby attended the Welcome Congregational Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Pierce J. Kirby in 1986 and one daughter, Wynell Dority.

Mrs. Kirby is survived by one daughter, Daphine K. Kirby, Lake City and three sons, Pierce J. Kirby, Jr. (Burnice), Martha’s Vineyard, Mass., Otis C. Kirby (Linda), Auburndale, Fl and Joseph M. Kirby (Cassie), Richmond, VA. Three sisters, Alla Grimes, Enterprise, AL, Edith Johnson (Jimmy),…….California and Hoyt Hatfield, Peoria, AZ, eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Kirby will be conducted on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Siloam United Methodist Church with Rev. Milton Smith, Pastor of Fort White Baptist Church officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Siloam Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral home.
