Mary Elizabeth Lyons

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Horne Lyons, age 53, passed away on Monday, April 24 at her home in Glen St. Mary, Florida, following a lengthy illness. She was born April 12, 1964 to Robert Horne, Jr., and Juanita Smith Horne. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband of 28 years, Greg, and six children: Jerrod (Haley) Rhoden, Jud (Vanessa) Rhoden, Brooke (Jackson) Harvey, Erin (Francois) Fourie, Brittany Cornwell, and Emily (Josh) Taylor. She was “Mema” to 17 grandchildren: Jayci, Maddie, Silas, Jewell, Landor, Sawyer, Jack, Luke, Jayce, Claire, Sullivan, Scarlett, Clyde, Willow, Maryann, Sutton, and Harper. Survivors include her brothers: Bob (Nancy) Horne, Bill (Cindy) Horne, Mike (Sharon) Horne, Rusty (Pat) Horne, David (Tami) Horne, and Danny (Kathy) Horne; and her sisters: Susan Posey, Nancy (Tommy Dale) Johnson, and Jenny Korn. Mary’s strength came from her family and her faith in her Lord, Jesus Christ. She was a faithful member of Raiford Road Church where she quietly served on the Bereavement Committee. Mary had a servant’s heart and was a Godly wife and mother. Her hobbies were taking care of her grandchildren and trying to keep Greg and Clay straight. She lived her testimony daily which sustained her and her family through these last eight months. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 25, from 6 – 8 PM at Raiford Road Church and funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 26, at 11 AM. Interment is to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
