Mary “Maggie” O’Neill

Mrs. Mary Margaret “Maggie” O’Neill, age 77 of Lake City, FL passed away Wednesday, May 21st in the Life Care Center of Jacksonville following an extended illness. She was born in Carnegie, PA to the late James and Elizabeth Wilson McGrogan and resided there before moving to Lake City, FL 8 years ago. Maggie worked for Verizon Wireless for 30 years as a telephone operator until her retirement in 2012. She enjoyed playing scrabble, completing crosswords, and spending time with her family. She was affectionately known as “Grammie” to her grandchildren and great- grandchildren and it was a title she was honored to have. Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter, Lynn Ziefel (Rob). She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas J. O’Neill, Jr.: three children, Shannon O’Neill of Jacksonville, FL, Kathy DiPerna (Ron) of Macclenny, FL and Thomas R. O’Neill (Jamie) of Pittsburgh,PA: nine grandchildren, Amy Teague, Justin O’Neill, Becca Krebs, Tyler Beddows, Amy Lynn Rios, Kimberly Koerber, Brendon DiPerna, Elizabeth Seymour, and Ian O’Neill. Thirteen great-grandchildren also survive. A memorial service to honor the life of Mrs. O’Neill will be held on Saturday, June 1st at 11 A.M. in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home. Visitation and gathering with the family will begin at 10 A.M. Final memorialization will be by cremation.
