Mrs. Mattie Lee Weeks Brooks, age 80, of Lake City, Florida went to be with the Lord peacefully on Friday, Jan. 23, at Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center, Lake City, Florida. She was the daughter of Ashton and Basil Ward Weeks, born on August 2, 1934. She was preceded in death by her parents and numerous siblings. She attended Mason City School in Columbia County, Florida where she meet and fell in love with Ronald Otto Brooks, her childhood sweetheart. They married on November 1, 1952 and had three children. They lived in Jacksonville, Fla. for several years and she worked at St. Vincents Medical Center until moving back to Lake City, Florida. She then went to work for Division Hospital with Dr. York, now known at the Lake City Medical Center , where she retired after 36 years. She was of the Baptist Faith and a member of the Gateway Baptist Church, Lake City, Florida. She loved her family and grandchildren, better known as “Meme”. She was always on the giving end and never wanting nothing in return. She loved to cook and take care of everybody. She loved her family, that was very important to her. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ronald Otto Brooks of Lake City, Florida: One daughter, Tina (Robert) Jenkins of Lake City, Fla.: Two sons, Terry (Linda) Brooks and Alan (Becki) Brooks both of Lake City, Florida: One sister, Melba Alderich of Jacksonville, Florida: One brother, Ward Weeks of Lake City, Florida: Six grandchildren, Ronnie, Jessica, Holly, Ryan, Brad and Eric: Nine great-grandchildren, Lilly, Abi, Landon, Logan, Mattilyn, Ashtyn, Elijah, Micah and Fiona. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, Jan. 28, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Rick McCall, Pastor of the Gateway Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Philippi Cemetery, Columbia County, Florida. Visitation with the family will be from 1 to 2 P.M. Wednesday (One hour before services) at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W.
