Maxi Townsend

Ms. Maxie K. Townsend, age 79, of Glen St. Mary, FL passed away Tuesday, March 22, in St. Vincents Medical Center Riverside, Jacksonville, FL following a brief illness. Ms. Townsend was born in Baker County and lived several years in Northwest Florida before moving back to Baker County in 1982. She was a member of Raiford Road Church, Macclenny, FL and loved the Lord. She spent many hours teaching her children and grandchild about the Lord and his love. Ms. Townsend enjoyed the beach, flowers, and gardening. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wendall Blair King and Lula Rewis Bennett, her late husband, John T. Townsend, and one son, Mark A. Willis. Ms. Townsend is survived by two sons, Keith J. Willis and John C. Townsend both of Macclenny, FL: three daughters, Kim Brown (Bobby) of Macclenny, FL, Patricia A. Willis of Macclenny, FL and Tammara L. Van-noore (David) of Blossom, TX: one brother, Benny Joe Bennett (Patricia) of Taylor, FL: three sisters, June R. Bresica of Macclenny, FL, Gwen Walls (Ed) of Glen St. Mary, FL, and Verna Ruth Crews of Macclenny, FL: four grandchildren that she helped raise, Kristin Stacey, Lindsey Townsend, Tyler Townsend, and Ashley Perry. Ms. Townsend has 22 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews that also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Ms. Townsend will be held at 2 P.M., Thursday, March 24, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home, Macclenny, FL, with Rev. Johnny Raulerson, Pastor of Raiford Road Church, officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 1 to 2 P.M. (one hour before services) at the funeral home.
