Mr. Melvin Howard Shaw, age 91, passed gently from our loving hands in to God’s on January 28, 2015 and was instantly welcomed into the awaiting arms of his wife Maybell and family. Melvin worked 18 years for the Lake City Laundry, 20 years for Aero Corporation and lived in Tampa, Florida since 2001. He was a loving and compassionate father and grandfather. Although Alzheimer’s and blindness slowed him down, it never put out his smile. Heaven shines a whole lot brighter now and he is free of the disease and blindness. He was born in Jasper, Florida and lived for many years in Lake City, Fla. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church of Jasper, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Esther and Ben Shaw, sisters, Pauline Giddens, Lucille Oliver, Audrey Cooper White, Hazel Shaw and brothers, J.W., Kenneth, David and Mack Shaw. He leaves behind his son, Wayne (Terri) Shaw of Land O Lakes, Florida: Granddaughter, Ashley: grandson, Matthew: great-grandchildren, Zoe and Troy: Brother, Cecil Shaw of Lake City, Fla.: Sister, Joyce Darner of Valdosta, Georgia: and many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 A.M Monday, Feb. 2, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Bowers officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery, Lake City, Florida.
