Mr. Melvin Smith, age 77, of Macclenny, Fla. died Thursday, Jan. 6, at his residence following a long illness. He was born in Raiford, Florida and had lived in Macclenny, Fla. most of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Gertrude Addison Smith. He had retired from Northeast Florida State Hospital, Macclenny, Fla. after 27 years in the Laundry Department. He is survived by his wife, Mary J. Smith of Macclenny, Fla.: Earla Kay Williams of Jacksonville, Fla. and Jean Ann Champion of North Carolina:One step-son, Rodger Collingwood of Macclenny, Fla.: One sister, Renda Thomas of Worthington Springs, Fla.:29 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren also survive. Memorial services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, Jan. 15, at 12070 Shortway Place, Macclenny, Fla. with Rev. Brian Graham of Macclenny, Fla. officiating.
