Michael Gary Wilder

With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Michael “Mike” Gary Wilder, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, of stage 4 lung cancer at Haven Hospice Care Center of Lake City. Mike was born April 2, 1959, in Live Oak, Florida to the late Dennis and Velda (Clark) Wilder and was a graduate of Suwannee High School. He worked at Jasper Textiles, Badcock and later worked in land clearing until his retirement. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to the drive-ins, listening to music and telling stories about his younger years. He especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends. He is survived by his sons: Anthony (Sherry) Wilder of Live Oak and Jessie (Mandy) Wilder of Georgia; daughter: Kaylee Reed of Live Oak; grandchildren: Lizzy, Jack, Cameron, Madison, Samantha, Blue, Shelby, Alex, Shila, Chloe, Kylee and Zephora; brother: Alvin (Sherry) Wilder of Georgia; nephews: Robbie and Michael Smith; and closest friends: William (Daniel) Eddings, Hugh Landen and Amy Hancock. Numerous aunts, uncles, and other family members also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Michael Dennis Wilder. The family wishes to thank Lake City Health and Rehabilitation Center, Lake City Medical Center and Haven Hospice Care Center of Lake City for all the love, care and support they provided Mike. His family will carry his memory forward through the lessons, stories and love he gave so generously. The family will gather for a celebration of his life at 2:00pm, Friday, August 14, 2026 in the chapel of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home, 2659 SW Main Blvd, Lake City, Florida and will begin receiving friends at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Guerry Forbes Funeral Home of Lake City is honored to serve the Wilder family.
