Michael Kevin O'Malley

Mr. Michael Kevin O’Malley, 68, of Wellborn, passed away suddenly on January 1, 2017 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born in Madison, Wisconsin on September 23, 1948 to the late Thomas O’Malley and Delores Bishop O’Malley. Michael had a heart filled with love for others that showed in ways both large and small, from caring for the stray cats that showed up at his door and regularly donating blood, to working tirelessly to provide for his children and brightening the days of his family and friends with his unyielding optimism. Michael was an avid reader, music lover and devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers and Florida State Seminoles. He was a U.S. Army veteran  and a LPN, working for the Veterans Administration Hospital here in Lake City for the past twenty plus years, where he received recognition for outstanding service numerous times.

He is survived by his loving children: Kevin O’Malley of Wellborn and Lisa O’Malley of Tallahassee; brothers: Owen O’Malley of Gainesville, Alan O’Malley of Gainesville and Mark O’Malley. Numerous Aunts, Uncles, nieces and nephews along with many friends also survive.

Memorial Services for Mr. O’Malley will be conducted on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 2 P.M. in the chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Father Robert Trujillo, pastor of Epiphany Catholic Church, officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 P.M. (one hour prior to the services) at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Guerry Funeral Home, 2659 SW Main Blvd., Lake City, 32025.
