Minnie Lee Murray

Minnie Lee Sayers Murray, 97, passed away September 29, 2013, in Tallahassee, FL.  Mrs. Murray was born December 17,1915, in Perry, FL, to Y. K. and Roxsa Elizabeth Sasser Sayers.  Mrs. Murray was the great-granddaughter and granddaughter of Florida Pioneer Evan M. Sasser and his son William Zelodis Sasser. She was raised by her paternal aunt and uncle, A. J. and Minnie Lee Sayers Jones from infancy. Her uncle, A. J. Jones was a Methodist circuit minister in Taylor County, FL, and Mrs. Murray’s strong, lifelong religious convictions were born in the Jones’ home.  In later life, she was baptized in the Lake City Church of Christ.  Mrs. Murray was a resident of Lake City and St. Petersburg, as well as Tallahassee, for many years.She is survived by three sons, William F. Fletcher III (Martha) of Panama City, Bobby R. Allen (Jane)  of Tallahassee, and Delbert E. Murray, Jr. (Dianne) of Leesburg, GA; a daughter, Dale Allen Moniello (Paul) of Seaside Heights, NJ; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Fletcher Mills (Wayne), Amanda  Allen Farmer (Jeffrey), Salina Murray Wendelboe (Kelly) and Dawn Murray VanGorkum (Darrell); eight great-grandchildren, Ben Mills; Wesley M., Darla Jane and Samuel R. Farmer; Jaston Wendelboe; J.T. Owens, Harrison and Noah VanGorkum.Mrs. Murray was preceded in death by her siblings, Alice Johnson, Dora Tribbick, Rebecca Pridgeon, Ada Lee King, David, Dan, Cary, Simon, Betty and Sadie Mae Sayers, as well as her husbands, William F. Fletcher, Jr., Noah W. Allen, and Delbert E. Murray, Sr.Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2013, followed by services at 2:00 pm, Guerry Funeral Home Chapel in Lake City.  Interment will be at Memorial Cemetery, Lake City.
