Myrna Brooks

Mrs. Myrna Avoy Brooks, age 82, of Lake City, Florida went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 17, in the Lake City Medical Center, Lake City, Florida following a brief illness. Mrs. Brooks lived in Lake City, Florida all of her life and was employed as an assembly operator with Gates Energy Products, Alachua, Florida for 26 years until her retirement. She was the only girl in her graduating class at Mason City High School Class of 1956. She was a charter member of Everybody’s Tabernacle Church, Ellisville, Florida and attended Hopeful Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member of the Charity Sunday School Class. She loved cooking, baking and being with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Obie H. Brooks and her parents, Eddie C. and Nellie Myrtice Hunter Flanagan. She is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Kay (Leroy) Sherrod of Lake City, Florida and Michelle (Shawn) Barnett of Jacksonville, Florida: her son, Rodney (Michelle) Brooks of Atlanta, Georgia: Six grandchildren, Tyler Sherrod, Rhett Barnett, Bradley Barnett, Raegan Brooks, Rylee Brooks and Ryann Brooks.  Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Brooks will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, March 23, in the Hopeful Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Cunningham officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Lake City, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 10 to 11 A.M. Tuesday (One hour before services at the church). Services will be live streamed by Hopeful Baptist Church.
