Nettie Ruth "Tootsie" Rhoden

Mrs. Nettie Ruth “Tootsie” Rhoden, age 91, of Macclenny, Florida died Saturday, Sept. 30, at her residence following a brief illness.  Mrs. Rhoden was born in Haines City, Florida and had resided in Glen St. Mary and Macclenny, Florida for over 80 years.  She was employed as a beautician with the Northeast Florida State Hospital, Macclenny, Florida for over 25 years.  She was a member of the Christian Fellowship Temple of Macclenny, Florida and enjoyed her family and taking care of her grandchildren. She was the widow of the late Charles Travis Rhoden and the daughter of the late Charney and Nettie Harvey Thomas ans was preceded in death by her children, Michael Rhoden and Janice Magazu.  She is survived by her two daughters, Faye (Kenneth) Adcock of Atlanta, Georgia and Kathy (Roger) Starling of Macclenny, Florida:  Her brother, Robert “Bobby” Thomas of Glen St. Mary, Florida:  Four grandchildren, Lezlie (Rod) Trusty, Natalie (Robert) Paul, Chad (Richelle) Starling and Rachel (Kevin) O’Quinn: Six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive.

A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Rhoden will be held at 1 P.M. Tuesday, Oct. 3, in the Christian Fellowship Temple with her nephews, Rev. David Thomas and Rev. Tim Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Baker County, Florida.  Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Monday, Oct. 2, at her church.
