Nira Louise Broshar

January 1, 1934 — December 20, 2021

Lake City

Nira Louise (Greene) Broshar passed away peacefully December 20, 2021. Born at home in rural north Alabama near Oneonta January 1, 1934, Louise was the 2nd of 6 children born to Willie Clyde Greene & Cora Lee Rayford Greene.

She met & married her husband of 68 years, William Grant Broshar (Bill) of Moravia, Iowa when he was stationed at Fort McClellan Army Base (Anniston, Alabama) during the Korean War. After Bill’s release from the Army, the couple moved to Iowa where they resided for 11 years and had their 3 children during this time.

While in Iowa, Louise was a housewife & mother but knew that one day she would be a nurse, a long-held dream. That dream became a reality when they moved to Lake City, Florida after Bill started to work for the Social Security Administration. Louise attended Lake City Junior College’s Nursing school & earned her degree in nursing & R. N. certification. She began her nursing career at Lake Shore Hospital & would soon become head nurse of 2-West. She loved her work & stayed with Lake Shore for 20 years. For the next 9 years before retiring from nursing, she worked primarily in the home healthcare field. She then let her creative side take the forefront & opened Create-A-Dream Art Workshop & Studio where she taught painting & sold art supplies for 7 years in downtown Lake City.

Those who knew her, best remember she was an excellent seamstress, an avid gardener, a collector of (oh-so) many things, handy woman, lover of animals, artist, teacher & project planner extraordinaire.

Preceded in death by her parents & brother Arville.

Survived by husband Bill, son Michael (Lake City), daughters Patti (Smyrna, GA), Lisa (Dunwoody, Ga). Brothers Wayne Greene (Merl) Oxford, AL, Nathan Greene (Lynn) Bullard, TX. Sisters Linda Patton (Jim) and Pat Rupe both of Palm Coast, FL. Three grandchildren Amber McBride (Isaac), Jason Broshar (Naomi), Vyctoria Murray, all of Lake City.  Four Great Grandchildren & many nephews, nieces & other relatives, too many to name.

We will remember her well.

Arrangements entrusted to Guerry Funeral Home 2659 SW Main Blvd. Lake City, FL 32025
