Paul Royden Byars, age 53 of Lake City, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025. Paul was a one-of-a-kind person with a heart for people. Those who knew Paul, knew that he was a kind, loveable, smart and caring man. He loved helping everyone, no matter what their circumstances; he even loved people who didn’t care for him. He enjoyed talking about history, music, and military equipment. He was an avid Star Wars fan and a lover of 80’s rock music/bands, GI Joes, old movies and people. Paul loved collecting and selling scrap metal, going fishing, and hanging out with his adopted brother and sister, Taylor and Tyler, his “brother from another mother”, Charles Robinson, and his good friend, Sam Stockton. Paul especially loved his four-legged fur girls: Maxine and Delilah.
He is survived by his mother, who he dearly loved: Deb Pearce Ware of Murphy, NC; brother: Daniel Taylor; adopted brother: Tyler; “like a brother”: Charles; adopted sister: Tracey; his cousin who was like another mother: Janet Malphurs; and lots of special family in North Carolina. Paul was preceded in death by his grandparents: Ellis and Loretta Feagle Pearce and Lake and Edna Ware; father: Robert Ware; and younger brother: Ladison L. Byars II. Paul is at peace now with his brother, Ladi, and his Grannie and Poppa. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held 1:00pm, Friday, October 31, 2025, in the chapel of Guerry-Forbes Funeral Home with Reverends Steve Ware and Ronnie Gardner officiating. Interment will follow the service at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Lake City. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
