Mr. Paul Thomas Morton, Sr., age 71, of Lake City, Florida died suddenly on Sunday, Oct. 19, in the V.A. Medical Center, Gainesville, Florida. He was born in Tifton, Georgia and resided in Lakeland, Florida for many years before moving to Lake City, Fla. in 2000. He owned and operated Morton’s Plumbing Company in Lakeland, Fla. for over 35 years. He then worked as a plumbing supervisor with the Florida Department of Corrections, Lake City, Fla. for over five years until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp for over thirteen years and achieved the rank of E-6 Sgt. He was a Marine Corp veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of American Legion Post# 57, the Lake City Moose Lodge, the Church of God and was an avid Georgia Bulldog football fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Myrtle Ivella Windsor Morton. He is survived by his wife, Carmen G. Morton of Lake City, Fla.: Three sons, Raymond (Mary) Quenga and John S. (Bessie) Morton both of Lakeland, Fla. and Paul Thomas Morton, Jr. (Paula Waldron) of Ocala, Fla.: Two brothers, Joe Morton of Lakeland, Fla. and Jacob S. Morton of Nashville, Ga.: Three grandchildren., Chase, Roman and Isabella: Many nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, Oct. 24, in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell Florida with Mr. Arthur Lowes speaking a eulogy. Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 8 P.M.
