Paul Albert Schmid

Paul slept away into God’s arms on Friday, August 17, 2012 at home surrounded by his family and friends. Paul was 82, born in Philadelphia, PA to Paul A. Schmid and Freda Bonnet Schmid, both deceased. He grew up in Lawndale, a suburb of Philadelphia. He was married to Dolores Mutter on February 3, 1951 in Philadelphia. They moved to New Jersey in 1960 and then to Lulu, Florida in 1984. He and Dolores operated the “Old” Lulu General Store and the Lulu Community Post Office until July 1992. They stayed in Lulu at the residence. Paul was in fellowship with the Lulu Advent Christian Church, a member of the Lulu Community and the Lulu Volunteer Fire Department. He also was a member of the Gainesville Orchid Society. He was an avid gardener and orchid grower. He was in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955.

Paul is survived by his wife, Dolores, a marriage of 61 years plus; his children, Susan Hubley (Michael), Barbara Schmid Barba, Linda Esposito (Ralph), Paul Jos. Schmid (Lauren), and Amy Cathers (Kevin); ten grandchildren, Andrea Holmes, Stephanie Bailey, Joshua Holmes, Beckie Holmes, Alicia Cathers, Laura Barba, Gregory Cathers, Lisa Schmid, Kate Schmid and Evan Cathers.

A memorial service will be held at the Lulu Advent Christian Church on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 6:00 PM for the out of state families convenience. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Advent Christian Villiage at P.O. Box 4305 Dowling Park, FL 32064 or to Haven Hospice at 6037 US Hwy 90 W, Lake City, FL 32055.
