Paul Daniel Townsend, Sr.

Mr. Paul Daniel Townsend, Sr., age 87, of Lake City, Florida passed away Thursday, June 3, in the Suwannee Valley Care Center, Lake City, Florida following an extended illness.  Mr. Townsend was born in Day, Florida and lived in Mayo, Florida and Lake City and Jacksonville, Fla. for many years. He was a school teacher and taught math in the Layfette County School system for over eleven years. He was a member of the Brewer Lake Baptist Church in Day, Florida,  an  Army veteran of the Korean War and a graduate of Troy State University, Troy, Alabama. He loved to travel, his gardening, cooking, making jelly and doing small carpenter jobs. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Fielding Townsend, his parents, Niven and Deloris Farnell Townsend. He is survived by his three children, Paulette Townsend and Sue Thomas both of Lake City, Florida and Daniel (Beth) Townsend, Jr, of Jacksonville, Florida: one brother, Carl David Townsend of Live Oak, Florida: five grandchildren, Amanda, Jonathan, LaQuae, Jon and Sarah: Two great-grandchildren, Landon and Zander.  A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Townsend will be held at 10 A.M. Monday, June 7, in the Brewer Lake Baptist Church,  Day, Florida with Rev. Michael Hornback, Pastor,  officiating. Interment will be in Day Cemetery, Day, Florida. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday, June 6, at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W. Main Blvd., Lake City, Florida. www.guerryfunerlhome.net
