Pauline Hurst Cherry

Pauline Hurst Cherry, a longtime resident of Columbia County, passed away in Gainesville, FL on Dec. 26th at the North Florida Regional Medical Center, she was 92 years of age.

Pauline was born in Lake City, FL in 1928 to Amos Daniel Hurst and Ruth Robinson both of Lake City and lived in the Northeast Florida area most of her life.

She is preceded in death by her husband Merrill Joseph Cherry Jr of Zephyrhills Florida.

Pauline was employed by Bell South Telephone Co. for 31 years, where she retired in 1983.

Pauline loved crafting, gardening, flower arranging, shopping and spending time with her family. She was very devoted to her Church, The Lake City Church of God, where she was a member for over 50 years and served in the Music and Women’s ministries.

Pauline is survived by one daughter, Joyce Henderson, one son, Glen Cherry, both of Lake City; one stepson, Robert Parker of Albany, GA and two Grandchildren, Chris Cherry (Diana); Jamie Shaffer Parker (Wesley); five great grand children, Bailey, Bracen and Blair Parker; Austin and Aubrey Cherry.

A celebration of Pauline’s life will be held on Thursday Dec. 31st 2:00PM at the Lake City Church of God with Pastor Carl Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the Lake City Church of God music fund in lieu of flowers.
