Peggy Rewis

Mrs. Peggy Rewis, age 87, of Glen St. Mary, FL passed away Sunday, August 4th in the St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospice, Jacksonville, FL following an extended illness. Mrs. Rewis was born in Wellborn, FL to the late John and Emily Avery Hines. She was a lifelong resident of Baker County, FL and worked at the NEFSH as a canteen manager until her retirement. Mrs. Rewis loved her family and cherished the time they got to spend together. She enjoyed fishing, cheering on the Florida Gators, and watching NASCAR. Mrs. Rewis is preceded in death by her parents, daughter and son in law, June and Arthur Altman, son in law, Larry Turk, great- granddaughter, Hannah Carrington, sisters, Faye Yarbrough, Gladys Mae Starling, Ethel Williams, and Arrie Williams and brothers, Raymond Hines and Everett Williams. She is survived by her loving husband, David Rewis: children, Teresa Turk and Eddie Davis (Tommie Sue) both of Glen St. Mary, FL: one sister, Mary Beth Pittman of Hawthorne, FL: six grandchildren, Dedra Carrington (Michael Gray) of Glen St. Mary, FL, Lori Harrington of Macclenny, FL, Andrea Griffin (Robert), Shannon Altman ( Ashley), Eddie Davis, Jr. (Laura) all of Glen St. Mary, FL and Jacob Davis (Stacy) of Starke, FL. Fourteen great-grandchildren and 4 great-great- grandchildren also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Rewis will be held at 11 A.M., Friday, August 9th in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Tyer officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will start at 10 A.M. (one hour prior to the funeral service). A private family burial be held in Macedonia Cemetery at a later date.
