Mr. Phillip Ressie Barton, 60 of Macclenny died Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the home of his son following an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Macclenny and worked as an insulator in the heating and air-conditioning construction industry for thirty-four years until his retirement in 2006. He was a member of the Asbestos Union Local #13 of Jacksonville. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the Florida Gators, his son and daughter-in-law, his granddaughters and his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ressie and Agnes Griffis Barton, his siblings, Arlie, Alvin and John Barton and Pauline Barton Byrd.
Mr. Barton is survived by his son, Travis (Jennifer) Barton, Macclenny, one sister, Hester (Joe) Johnson, Macclenny, three brothers, Charles (Dot) Barton, Cliff (June) Barton and Edward “Buddy” Barton all of Macclenny and his two granddaughters, Madison and Megan Barton both of Macclenny.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 in the Glen Friendship Tabernacle Church, Glen St. Mary with Rev. Albert Starling, Pastor officiating and assisted by Rev. Cliff Barton, Jr. Interment will follow in Macedonia Cemetery, Baker County, Fl. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Glen Friendship Tabernacle Church.
