Mr. Phillip Russell McDonald, age 67, of Lake City, Florida passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at his home following an extended illness. Mr. McDonald was a beloved husband , father, brother and uncle and had resided all of his life in Lake City and worked as an auto mechanic at Nextran Trucking, Lake City, Florida for over 20 years until his retirement in 2020. He attended the Lake City Church of God, a former member of the Florida National Guard and enjoyed grilling and cook outs with his family, fishing and tinkering with items at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Waldena McDonald, infant son Phillip Earl McDonald and son, Russell Dennis McDonald. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Karen McDonald; his daughter, Melissa (Terrell); his sister, Marilyn (Copper) Nelson; two brothers, Gregory McDonald and Rodney (Ruby) McDonald; two granddaughters, Angela and Leanne; his mother-in-law, Mary (Ernie) Howey; sister-in-law, Patsy (Dillon) Dicks and Pam Hartsuff; brother-in-law, Donald Mattox and a host of nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service to honor the life of Mr. McDonald will be held at 3 P.M. Friday, Aug. 23, in the Swift Creek Cemetery, Union County, Florida with Pastor Carl Thomas and associate Pastor Dennis McMillan of the Lake City Church of God officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, Aug. 22, at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W. Main Blvd., Lake City, Florida.
