Ralph Davis, 87, died on Thursday, Oct. 30, at his Glen St. Mary farm with his family by his side. Born, August 17, 1927, in a boxcar at the 17 Mile Turpentine Camp, to Bill and Gladys Davis; he was the second of 6 boys. On November 24, 1949, he married Dorothy Bradley, of Glen St. Mary. Mr. Davis was a iron worker and was a member of the Jacksonville Iron Workers Union Local 597. Mr. Davis helped to build the Florida State Capitol building, Ben Hill Griffin stadium in Gainesville, and launch pads at Cape Canaveral. In addition to tying steel, Mr. Davis also farmed tobacco and raised cattle. Ralph was a life long resident of Baker County, FL and was a trustee of the South Prong Cemetery for 50 years. Ralph will be especially remembered for his devotion to family, his work ethic, and the pleasure he derived from being outdoors. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Davis, his three daughters, Kathy (Gary) Barber , Wanda Sue (John) Raulerson , and Dayle (John) Milton; his 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Everett (Lydia Anne) Davis, Ora (Shirley) Davis, Bud (Clarice) Davis, and Mallory (Lou) Davis. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Winston Davis, and his twin sons, Gary and Terry Davis. Visitation will be held on Friday, Oct. 31 from 6:00pm-8:00pm and funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 2:00pm. Both services will be held at Raiford Road Church in Macclenny. Pastor John Raulerson will be officiating. Interment will follow at South Prong Cemetery in Sanderson. Guerry Funeral Home, US 90 East, Macclenny was in charge of arrangements. 904-259-2211
