Mr. Ralph Jacob Gjoen, age 80, died Sept. 2, 2015 after a long illness. He was a strong and virile Vicking and loved by all he touched. He was born in Chicago, Illinois and lived in Arlington Heights, Illinois with his parents and brother. He served in the U.S. Air Force flying tankers, where he received the National Defense Medal and the Air Force Longevity Service Award. Ralph was a commercial pilot for American Airlines for 29 years. He was motivated by his “love of flying” , he moved to Lake City, Florida with his wife Beverly, where they built a home and hangar and lived there for 22 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly, 3 children, 3 step-children, 7 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. There will be no viewing, as his final disposition will be by cremation.
