Ray Allen Bennett

Mr. Ray Allen Bennett, age 91 passed away Sunday, February 21st in the North Florida Rehab and Specialty Care Center, Gainesville, FL following an extended illness. Mr. Bennett was born in Baker County, FL and lived there as a young man until he moved to Gainesville and lived there the remainder of his life. Mr. Bennett was a private detective and owned and operated Bennett’s Detective Agency in Gainesville, FL, and loved to fish and hunt. He was known as a straight shooter and someone who would do anything for those he loved. He enjoyed telling stories and entertaining people. Mr. Bennett is preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Ida Rewis Bennett and siblings, Dorsey and Drew Bennett, Lucille Crews and Voncille Hand. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lee Bennett of Gainesville, FL: one brother, Gerald Fred Bennett (Inez) of Gainesville, FL. Many nieces and nephews also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Bennett will be held at 2 P.M., Thursday, February 25th in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Raulerson, Pastor of the Dinkins Church officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be from 1 to 2 P.M. (one hour before services).
