Mr. Richard Elbert Harvey, age 73, of Sanderson, Florida died Thursday, Aug. 2, in the Acosta-Rau Center for Caring, Jacksonville, Fla. following an extended illness. He was born and resided in Sanderson, Fla. all of his life. He retired from the Sanatation Department of the City of Jacksonville, Fla. after 22 years and also retired from the Florida Department of Agriculture as a state inspector in 2000 after 20 years of service. He enjoyed all types of sports, particularly the Florida Gators football and baseball teams and deer hunting.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, Donald and Rosie Harvey. He is survived by his wife, Jessie Harvey of Sanderson, Fla.: One son, Ricky (Rachel) Harvey of Sanderson, Fla.: One brother, E.H. (Clarine) Harvey of Sanderson, Fla.: One sister, Doris (Tommy) Combs of Sanderson, Fla.: Three grandchildren, Daniel (Kandace) Harvery, Autumn Harvey, and Amber (Trace) Reynolds: Three great-grandchildren, Jalynn Harvey, Dalton Harvey, and Maddox Harvey.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Monday, Aug. 6, in the chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. David Thomas and Rev. Tim Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Creek Cemetery, Sanderson, Fla. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday, Aug. 5, at Guerry Funeral Home Chapel.
