Robert H. "Bob" Mccrea

May 13, 1934 — February 9, 2013

Robert H. “Bob” McCrea 78 years of age passed on to the loving arms of Jesus Christ February 9, 2013. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert H McCrea and Bernice Downey McCrea.
He was born in Akron Ohio on May 13, 1934, moving shortly thereafter to Joplin, MO where he attended secondary schools and graduated from Joplin Senior High School in 1952. He attended one year at the University of Arkansas, and 3 years at the University of Missouri, graduating in 1956. Through the ROTC program, he received his Commission as a Reserve Officer, training as an Artillery Officer at Fort Sill, OK and continued his 6 year obligation in various Reserve Units. After living and working in the insurance field for 2 years in Kansas City, he relocated to North Central Florida, working in the motel industry for several years and eventually opening a local gas/grocery business in Lake City. He finally found his most rewarding job was his entry in the educational field as a math teacher at Branford High School, where he taught for 29 years
Bob leaves behind his wife Mercelyn Young McCrea, brother Bill McCrea and wife, LaJune of Missouri City, Texas and nephews, Scott and Todd McCrea and families; Stepchildren Margie Young Noblia and Gary, Mark Young and Cindy, Cheryl Young Luker and Kelly, Renea Young Westfall and Lance, 4 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, 4 great-grand daughters, 3 great-grandsons, 2 nephews, 3 great nieces, and 5 great nephews.
Memorial services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home.
