Robert " Bob" Toney, Sr.

Mr. Robert Douglas Toney Sr., age 87 currently of Dade City, Florida died June 24th in Zephyrhills, Florida. Best known as Bob in his adult years, he was born in Quincy, Florida on May 9, 1934 to parents Roy Allen and Ruby Love Toney. He was the seventh of nine siblings and spent the majority of his early youth in Macclenny Florida. He completed his primary education at LaBelle High School, graduating in 1953. He served two years in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1955. Bob began his career with The Southern Bell Telephone Company in Jacksonville, Florida immediately after his military service where he then met and married the love of his life, Betty Jo Howard. Bob and Betty were married on July 19, 1957 and were married a few weeks shy of 65 years. He is survived by his wife Betty, son, Robert Douglas (Doug) Toney Jr., granddaughter, Sabal Rose Toney, brother, Jack Toney and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his long career with Southern Bell telephone Company, he was the founder of Angel Aqua Company in Macclenny. Bob was a devout man of God who served the Lord as a deacon for over 40 years. He loved to fish and was a self described “Perch Jerker” and spent countless hours on the water with Betty at various angling locations across the state of Florida. His favorite saying was “To have a friend you’ve got to be a friend.” He lived his life that way and everyone who knew him has a personal story wherein he gave of his time, his knowledge and always of his heart. A gravesite funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Bob Toney will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Macclenny Florida at 11 A.M., Friday, July 2, 2021.
