Robert James "Jimmy" Joyner

July 14, 1942 — September 21, 2023

Robert James “ Jimmy” Joyner, age 81, of Jacksonville, Florida  went home to be with the lord on September 21, 2023, surrounded by his family in his home. He was born on July 14, 1942  in Hillsborough County, Florida, to the late Benjamin “Ben” James Joyner and Ethel Eloise Oberry, and grew to be a man of high integrity.

On December 3, 1963, he married the love of his life Frances Marlene (Keene) Joyner. They were married for 60 years. He and his “honey” began their life together in Baldwin, FL, where they raised their two children, Tonda and Michael. Later they moved to Alma, Georgia in 1998 and then moved back to Jacksonville, Florida in 2021.

Mr. Joyner worked for Seaboard Coastline and Jacksonville Terminal Company for 15 years and then joined the USPS Commonwealth Bulk Mail Center as a Supervisor for 29 years where he retired.

He enjoyed fishing with “his honey” & farming, but his favorite time was spent with his wife & children.  Family was everything to him.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Marlene: one daughter Tonda (Kevin) Robertson: one son Michael (Elaine) Joyner: five granddaughters, Jessica (Joe) Martin, Caitlyn (Bobby) Barber, Lucy (Ed) Trutt, Alyssa Grace, and Amy Tyson: four grandsons, Matthew (Keshia) Joyner, Owen (Ash-Lee) McQuaig, Joshua (Brooke) Grace, and Adam Jones and 18  great grandchildren. There are many who he accepted in his life who referred to him as father, brother, uncle and grandpa with the same love as his own.

Being a “good man” does not begin to describe his life of generosity & selfless acts for others, especially to his family.

He will be surely missed by those who knew him, and heaven is now a better place for his presence.

Celebration of life was held at Baldwin United Methodist Church. Donations can be made to the church. Guerry Funeral Home, US 90 E., Macclenny, FL has been entrusted with the services. Please visit www.guerryfuneralhome.net to leave condolences for the family.
