Robert Evan Jones, Sr.

Mr. Robert Evan Jones, Sr., age 92, of  Lake City, Florida died Monday, April 4,  in the V.A. Medical Center, Lake City, Florida following a long illness.  He was born in Jupiter, Florida and resided in Lake City, Florida most of his life.  He served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force and retired  after 20 years of service in 1968. During his Navy service he was stationed in Guadalcanal  from 8/15/42 to 2/5/43.  He was a member of the Southside  Baptist Church,  a member of the V.F.W.  Post 2206 of Lake City, Florida. He enjoyed scuba diving, running marathons and treasure hunting.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin E. Jones and Lula Nogel Jones. He is survived by his three nephews,  Jimmy (Glenda) Sanders, John D. (Ida) Sanders and Tommy Sanders all of Lake City, Florida:  Numerous great-nephews and nieces also survive. Graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, April  9,  in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Columbia County, Florida.  GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.
