Ronald Joseph Hirtz

Mr. Ronald Joseph Hirtz, age 86, of Lake City, Florida died Wednesday, Jan. 21, in the Lake City Medical Center, Lake City, Florida following a brief illness.  He was born in Hammond, Indiana  and worked for Union Carbide in Whiting, Indiana and then moved to Indiana, Pa.  and worked for Stearns Roger Coal Gasification Plant and then moved to Lake City, Fla. in 1979  and worked as a shift supervisor with Occidental Chemical Company, White Springs, Fla.  until his retirement in 1992.  He enjoyed fishing, gardening and visiting the local Wal-Mart store.  He was preceded in death by his parents,  Joseph and Louise S. Shoemaker Hirtz.  He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret  Hirtz of Lake City, Florida:  Four children Joseph (Theresa) Hirtz of West Point, Va.,  Gary (Lynne) Hirtz  of Placida, Fla. , Robert (Beth) Hirtz  of Uniontown,  Pa. and Kirstine (Walter) Smith of Lake City, Fla.:  his sister, Betty Sarros of Chicago Heights,  Illinois:  Grandchildren,  Jeremy and Molly Hirtz,  Ronald and Daria Hirtz, Vanessa and Jesse Hirtz, Sam and Lasha Hirtz, Alli and Travis Bittner, Ashleigh and Cody King, Ryan Smith and Justin Bridges:  Great-grandchildren, Hailey, Mirey  and Jacey Hirtz,  Madison and Gabi Swinson, Henry Hirtz-Branden  Borders.  Funeral  services will be held at 3 P.M.  Saturday, Jan.  24, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with  Rev.  Mike Tatum, Pastor of Parkview Baptist Church, officiating.  Final disposition will be by cremation. Visitation for friends and family will be from 1 to 3 P.M. Saturday (Two hour before services)  at  GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.
