Sally Mae Williams, 83, of Lake City, passed away on October 21st, 2022 after a brief illness. She was surrounded by family and friends.
Sally was born on July 28th, 1939 in Tennessee. Sally worked for years in the Columbia County Clerk of Court’s office. She went on to study nursing at Lake City Community College (now Florida Gateway College) at the age of 42.
After graduating with a degree in nursing, she started her first job at Lake Shore Hospital, kickstarting a 20-year career in nursing working in the hospital, home health, Family Health Center and finished her career at the VA Hospital in Lake City.
Sally met the love of her life, Wayne Williams, in Gainesville, Florida and the two were married in 1957, and remained so for the rest of her life. Sally and Wayne went on to have three children, Dean, Jason, and Melinda.
In 2011, Sally retired and spent her time reading and going to church, and she was known for her good cooking and beautiful rose garden.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Williams, her three sisters Connie, Ruth, Dede, and her brother Julian. She is survived by her three children, seven grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.
A Memorial Service will be held at Westley Memorial Church in Lake City, FL on October 28th,2022 at 11:00. Family and friends are invited to come and share fond memories and stories. GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W. Main Blvd., Lake City, Florida is in charge of arrangements.
