Sharon Lee Matchie

October 23, 1953 — March 22, 2017

Mrs. Sharon Lee Matchie, 63, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, March 22, 2017 at the Suwannee Valley Haven Hospice Care Center after an extended illness. She was born in Calvert County, Maryland on October 23, 1953 to Peggy Arrington Shenton and the late James Shenton. She has lived in the Lake City area the past two years, having moved here from Starke, FL and previously living in the state of Wisconsin. She was a homemaker and was an artist. She loved to draw, paint and tinker with computer graphics; she enjoyed anything that had to do with art. She also liked to read and play computer games. She was of the Baptist faith and was attending Parkview Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her daughter: Michelle Dare.

She is survived by her loving husband of twenty-five years: Jeremy Matchie of Lake City; daughters: Stacey (Hicham) Medroum of Lake City and Crystal (David) Rippey of Vinton, Virginia; son: Tracey (Dawn Behrens) Wilson; mother: Peggy Shenton of Solomon’s, Maryland; sister: SueAnn (Joe) Sady of Maryland. Ten grandchildren along with many extended family members and friends also survive.

Funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Matchie will be conducted on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Tatem, pastor of Parkview Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 1:30 P.M. in the Jacksonville National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 P.M. (two hours prior to the services) at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Suwannee Valley Haven Hospice, 6037 W US Highway 90, Lake City, FL 32055. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Guerry Funeral Home, 2659 SW Main Blvd, Lake City, 32025.
