Sovereign "S.V." Vardaman Hyde Jr.

Mr. Sovereign Vardaman “S.V.” Hyde. Jr., age 84, of Lake City, Florida died Sunday, Sept. 24, in the Lake City Medical Center, Lake City, Florida following a long illness. He was born in Augusta, Arkansas and resided in Grand Bay, Alabama and the Philippines before moving to Lake City in 1965. He was employed with Occidental Chemical Company, White Springs, Florida as a chemical engineer for almost 20 years. He was of the Methodist faith and loved drag racing, rebuilding race cars and water sailing.  He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.  He is survived by his wife,  Rosa Maria Hyde of Lake City, Florida: Five children,  Dennis (Donna) Hyde and Kimble Hyde both of Lake City, Florida, Sharon K. Hyde (Roy Stallings) of Lexington, S.C. , Gary (Debbie) Hyde and Joe Hyde both of Jacksonville, Florida:  on step-son, Marlon Nantes of Lake City, Florida:  Nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.

A funeral mass to honor the life of Mr. Hyde will be held on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 9:30 A.M. at the Epiphany Catholic Church with Father Robert Trujillo officiating.  Graveside services will be at 12:30 P.M. Thursday, Sept. 28, in the Jacksonville National Cemetery, Jacksonville, Florida.  Visitation and gathering with family will be from 6 to 9 P.M. Wednesday, Sept. 27, at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, 2659 S.W.
