Teresa Cornelius

Mrs. Teresa Cornelius, age 99, of Macclenny, Florida went home to Heaven on May 4, after a valiant fight with cancer. Mrs. Cornelius was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1923 to John and Nettie Ezykowich. She later moved to Centereach, New York where she resided for 52 years before moving to Macclenny, Florida in 2005. Mrs. Cornelius was a longtime member of United Methodist Church of Ronkonkoma, New York where she was involved in many ministries and First United Methodist Church of Macclenny, Florida. She was a longtime employee of the Long Island Newsday where she worked as an account representative. She was an avid New York Mets fan and enjoyed solving puzzles, traveling, and the Daytona Damsels. She also loved to crochet, specifically caps and blankets for NICU babies as well as lap blankets for veterans. She is preceded in death by her late husband of 51 years, William; 9 brothers and sisters; daughter, Deyanne; grandson, Terrance; one grandson and 3 great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Gloria (Mike) Piluso; grandchildren, Michael (Christine) Piluso, Christine (Jeff) Horn, Jeffrey (Kari) Ingegno, and Jamie Mead. 12 great-grandchildren and many friends also survive. A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Cornelius will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, May 10, in the First United Methodist Church of Macclenny, Florida with Rev. Bryan Simpson officiating. Visitation and gathering with the family will be one hour prior from 10 to 11 A.M. at the church. There will also be another visitation and gathering with the family from 4 to 8 P.M. Monday, May 9, in the chapel of Guerry Funeral Home Macclenny, Florida. Following the services, Mrs. Cornelius will be forwarded to New York where she will be buried in Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that all donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Guerry Funeral Home, U.S. 90 E., Macclenny, FL has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
