Mr. Thomas Alfred “Al” Dority, age 84, of Sanderson, Fla. died Friday, July 18, in the St. Vincents Riverside Center, Jacksonville, Fla. following a long illness. He was born in Gainesville, Fla. and lived in Jacksonville, Fla. before moving to Sanderson, Fla. 34 years ago. He worked as a yard conductor with the Norfolk-Southern Railroad, Jacksonville, Fla. for over 45 years until his retirement. He was a member of the The Taylor Church, Taylor, Fla., a member of the United Transportation Union, the Masonic Lodge of Sanderson, Fla. and the Morocco Shriners of Jacksonville, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mittie Raulerson Dority and a step-son, Jefferson Davis Wilburn. He is survived by his wife, Vivian “Bib” Dority of Sanderson, Fla.: Four children, Tony Dority , Cathy Canady and Linda Byrd all of St. George, Ga. and Deborah Waters of Jacksonville, Fla.: Two-step children, Naomi Conner of Cherokee, N. C. and Joseph F. Wilburn of Sanderson, Fla.: One sister, Melavine Smart of Baldwin, Fla.: Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, July 21, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Cox, associate pastor of The Taylor Church, officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Creek Cemetery, Sanderson, Fla.
