Thomas Sanders

Mr. Thomas Allan “Tommy” Sanders, age 77, of Lake City, Florida passed away on Friday, Aug. 26, in Haven Hospice, Lake City, Florida following an extended illness.  Mr. Sanders lived in Lake City, Florida all of his life. He worked for the Department of Juvenile Justice and the Department of Corrections as a counselor for many years until his retirement from the State of Florida. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church, Lake City, Florida. He was a graduate of Columbia High School and the University of Florida with a Degree in Advertising. He was a former member of the Lake City Jaycee’s and the Elks Club of Lake City. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, photography and traveling with his family.  He was preceded in death by his parents, James D. and Elsie Jones Sanders. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Kimberly & Lonnie Gunn of Rincon, Georgia; two brothers, Jimmy & Glenda Sanders and Johnny & Ida Sanders all of Lake City, Florida; four grandchildren, Thomas Gunn  and Tyler Gunn both of Lake City, Florida, Timothy Gunn and Laura Gunn both of Rincon, Georgia; And numerous nieces and nephews that he enjoyed spending time with.
