Mrs. Vertie Lucille Dugger, age 88, of Macclenny, Florida died Sunday, April 13, in the St. Vincent’s Riverside Center, Jacksonville, Fla. following a long illness. She was born in Rentz, Georgia and resided in Baldwin, Fla. before moving to Macclenny, Fla. in 1968. She worked as a certified nursing assistant with Northeast Florida State Hospital, Macclenny, Fla. for over 20 years. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed cross-word puzzles and spending time with her dogs. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Alton and Maggie Evans Gay. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia “Boots” (James) Bennett of Starke, Fla.: Three grandchildren, Donna Gail Davis and Robert S. Phillips both of Macclenny, Fla. and James “Gator” Phillips of Lake City, Fla.: Three step-sons, Thomas Pervis and Shelton Pervis both of Macclenny, Fla. and Ernest Pervis, Jr. of Starke, Fla.: One brother, Gene (Betty) Gay of Newberry, Fla.: Numerous great and great-great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 P.M. Wednesday, April 16, in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home, Macclenny, Fla. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Macclenny, Fla. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 P.M. Wednesday (One hour before service) at GUERRY FUNERAL HOME, U.S. 90 East Maccclenny, Fla.
