Violet Rhoden, age 93, of Macclenny, Fla. went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 2, 2013 following a brief illness. Violet was born and raised in Cuyler, Fla. before moving to Macclenny after marrying her husband of 72 years, Paul Rhoden. There they owned and operated Paul’s Rexall Drug Store for 33 years. Violet enjoyed spending time with her family and sharing the gospel with family and friends. She dedicated her life to serving the Lord and her church, Macclenny Church of God.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Rhoden and son, Edward Wray Rhoden. She is survived by her daughter, Paula Rhoden; son, Phil Rhoden (Debbie); granddaughter, Jana Sowell (Kevin); great-grandchildren, Kallie, Kaleb, and Taylor Sowell all of Macclenny, Fla. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 5, at 11:00 A.M. in the Macclenny Church of God with Rev. Shannon Conner, officiating and assisted by her Sunday School teacher, Toppy Conner. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 4, from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Macclenny Church of God. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Macclenny, Fla.
