Virgil L Crews

Mr. Virgil Lester Crews, 74 of Glen St. Mary, Florida, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at the VA Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.  Mr. Crews was a son the late Lester Crews and Alice Starling Crews and was a lifelong resident of Baker County, Florida.  He was a graduate of Baker County High School class of 1957, veteran of the United States Army and a proud 50 year member of the Steam Fitters and Pipe Fitters Local #234 in Jacksonville.  Mr. Crews was an avid golfer and Florida Gator Football fan.  He was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey V. Crews, Sr., 1978 and Barney Lewis Crews, Sr., 2012; one great grandson, Brandon Lewis Johnson, 2013; one son-in-law, David Mobley; and two sisters, Rosemary Hines and Jeanette Maddox.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mrs. Pat Crews;  one daughter, Patti L. Mobley (Rick Osburn);  a daughter-in-law, Tina Griffis (Mike) all of Glen St. Mary;  one sister, Faye Gibbs, Venice, FL;  eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Virgil “Jay” Crews, Jr., Macclenny, Justin Griffis (Amber), Glen St. Mary, Sara Little (Brandon), Macclenny, Barney Lewis Crews, Jr. (Krystal), Newport News, VA, Brion Lee Crews, Virginia Beach, VA, Natalie Marie Crews, Norfolk, VA, Garrett Lee Mobley, Glen St. Mary, and Sarah Brooke Mobley, Glen St. Mary;  three great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Guerry Funeral Home with Rev. David Thomas, pastor of Christian Fellowship Temple, officiating and assisted by Mr. Justin Griffis.  Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Baker County, FL.  Visitation with the family will be from 5-8:00 PM, Saturday evening at the funeral home.
